If you join us at our Perth development office you'll be at a studio:

Considering a career in the games industry? We might have just the thing for you.

Not too long ago, our very own Mike Turner — 13-year industry veteran and Executive Producer extraordinaire that he is — gave a presentation about getting into and working in the games industry.

We took those notes and added a talk he gave at a SIGGRAPH meeting combining them together into one, mighty, piece of insight into what developers are looking for. You can find the augmented presentation right here, or click on the image.

Keep an eye on this space, as we plan to use this as a framework and to keep spackling in more career paths, insider details and helpful hints. Think of us as the career guidance counsellor you wish you had...

Interzone GM Robert J Spencer presents First Prize.

The Interzone Nullarbor Demo Party and Game Development Competition is an annual event promoting the development of games, interactive technologies and a form of electronic art called “demos”. IZ Nullarbor provides a forum for Australian programmers, designers, artists and musicians to demonstrate their skills, interact, get to know each other and exchange ideas. This year’s competition featured more than three times as many entries as 2006’s inaugural event, and saw a significant improvement in the general level of polish and flair. The winners were chosen by popular vote, and prizes were presented by Interzone GM Robert J Spencer and Edith Cowan University’s Dr. Martin Masek. “The quality of the entries in this year’s competition is fantastic,” said Spencer. “Interzone is very proud to have inspired this level of creativity and commitment within the Perth game and demo community.”

Interzone’s core engineering and design team already features proven talent from Microsoft, EA, Spectrum Holobyte, Interplay, Parallax, Animal Logic, Silver Lightning, Team Bondi, Lionhead and Cyberlore, and we’re hiring weekly. Interzone is currently in stealth mode on a number of leading-edge projects, and we welcome career enquiries from experienced game designers, developers, modellers, animators and artists.
